Carol Wilks has been versatile in various mediums for over 40 years and has studied under a variety of artists ranging from drawing, photography, oil, watercolor as well as pastel, her current passion. Her work has created a lot of attention because of the style used to create her animals.
Carol is currently a member of the Valley Art Association in Hagerstown as well as the Pastel Society of America, Portrait Society of America and the Maryland Pastel Society. She offers a class in all mediums on a weekly basis. Her class started in 2008 and is still going strong.
In addition to displaying and selling her art in various galleries such as the juried shows at the Washington County Museum and the Washington County Arts Council in Hagerstown, her paintings show and continue to sell in other galleries as well in Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
She does commissioned work on portraits and animals, and has completed several works on landscapes, seascapes and still life as well. She also completed several paintings in oil on the Civil War, focusing on the Antietam Battlefield, entering them in shows locally where many of these works have sold. Her paintings are currently on permanent display at the Mansion House Art Gallery in Hagerstown Park where she also takes part in the shows held there.
